Tell us about the impressive, impactful, and innovative work you've been doing this year – and let us showcase it at our conferences, in our newsletters, and on social media.

Who can submit? Both in-house leaders and external providers may submit an entry. (External providers must partner with an in-house client on any submission.) Submissions may be from any industry and country. Award recipients must have a representative available to attend the Buying Legal Conference in New York City on September 10, 2024.

Where do I submit? Please submit your entry using this form, (or the excel version). Each submission must pay the $200 entry fee* by August 9th.  

What happens after I submit? Entries will be reviewed by our panel, and winners will be announced at the awards celebration to cap off our 2024 Conference. Winners will receive a trophy and be promoted on our website, newsletter, and social media.


AWARDS FAQ


Who can participate?
Any client-side professional (in-house legal, legal ops, or procurement/sourcing) involved in the sourcing of legal services/tech and managing legal supplier relationships for their own legal department or company can submit a project. External service providers (consultants, legal technology providers, law firms, or other legal service providers) may only submit a project together with a client.

Please read below information to get a better sense of how your project fits in our selection criteria. Submissions must relate to projects conducted in 2023/2024. 


When can you submit your project?
The submission deadline is Thursday, August 9, 2024.

The results will be made public at the Buying Legal Conference on September 10, 2024. Someone from your team is expected to attend the conference to receive the Award. (Separate sign up necessary.)

How do you participate?

Participants fill out the form to enter. Only complete entry forms will be accepted and evaluated. The US$200 processing fee must be paid in full before the deadline. If any parts of your submission should be considered confidential, please indicate so in that section. Please note that the Synopsis part may not contain any confidential information.

*Note: Entry fee waivers may be granted to in-house legal departments or legal sourcing teams submitting without an external partner. To request a waiver, please email sean.weller@buyinglegal.com.


What information do I need to submit?

We require the following information: Synopsis of your project, strategy/implementation, and goals/results/ROI. Each area has a maximum word count. You may provide an optional attachment (a PowerPoint or PDF) showcasing your project's approach, results, and ROI.

What are the criteria for evaluation?

Each Award category has different evaluation criteria:

INNOVATION

The winning team/individual has provided an innovation to their organization that significantly created value through improved performance and/or efficiency, or had positive impact on cost reduction, transparency, reduction of legal spend etc.

Innovation can be through particularly innovative use of technology, process improvement innovation or other innovative approaches.

Specifically: Focus on a specific project or initiative which was finalized successfully. The innovation should represent a new and creative approach or process that created value for the organization and improved performance. 


COLLABORATION & TEAMWORK

The collaboration award is given to an individual/legal procurement team who conducted a successful project or initiative, for its excellent collaboration with another function from the same organization (cross-functional) or with an external partner. The team successfully accomplished goals, was an honest and dependable player who contributed to group collaboration. The people involved showed empathy and respect for others and built and maintained good working relationships with internal stakeholders, other functions and external legal-services providers. 

Specifically: Focus on a specific project or initiative which was finalized successfully. Focus on the role played by the Procurement professional or team in the collaboration and how this has successfully influenced the outcome.


VALUE

The winning team/individual has created and successfully implemented a creative, novel approach to the pricing, buying, and delivery of legal services to increase value. The team aligned the interests of both the buyer and the seller of legal services, adding significant value to the buyer (e.g. through savings, predictability of cost etc.), but at the same time, maintained or increased quality and helped improve the relationship with the provider.

Specifically: Focus on a specific project or initiative which was finalized successfully. Please focus on how it added value to both the buyer and the seller and how it improved the strategic nature of the relationship. 


What is the prize?

Award winners will be announced at the awards celebration to cap off our 2024 Conference. Winners will receive a trophy and be promoted on our website, newsletter, and social media.

Further Rules:

  • Judges' decisions are final and awards will be given at their discretion. If the criteria have not been met, judges may decide to not nominate a winner in any of the categories. 
  • Content submitted in the "Synopsis" section may be used publicly. The content and its publication must hence be lawful and not confidential.
  • Entrants will be deemed to have accepted all rules and procedures on this page and to have agreed to be bound by them when entering this competition.
